Man Taken Into Custody After Crashing into Home and Tree in Ashland


A man is in custody after he crashed his car into the front of a home and struck a tree Wednesday morning in Ashland.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, troopers are investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred around 6:15am in the 400 block of Centre Street.

Police say, Avery Gebhard, 24, of Tremont was travelling east on Centre Street when for an unknown reason, crossed the opposing lane of traffic, drove up onto the sidewalk, struck a tree and the front steps of home.

Gebhard was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. Charges will be filed with Magisterial District Judge Christina Hale's office.

Gebhard's vehicle sustained heavy front end damage and was towed from the scene.

Responding to the scene along with the Pennsylvania State Police were the American Hose Company and the Washington Ambulance.
