No Injuries Reported in Separate Snow-Covered Interstate 81 Crashes

No injuries were reported in two of accidents that occurred on snow-covered Interstate 81 on Saturday in Mahanoy Township.


According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the first crash occurred in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 near mile marker 129.5 in Mahanoy Township.

Police say the crash occurred when Richard Boccaleri, 30, of Ashland, attempted to change lanes, lost control, and struck an embankment.

Boccaleri or his passenger were not injured but his vehicle needed to be towed from the scene.

The second incident occurred near 129.9 in the southbound lanes around 3:15pm.

Police say Andrew Zepnikowski, 44, of Pottsville, was travelling in a tractor trailer when he lost control, crossed the left lane of traffic, went off the roadway, went up an embankment, and struck a tree.

Zepnikowski was not injured in the crash.
