Pedestrian Dies from Injuries After Being Struck Along Route 61 Saturday Evening

A pedestrian was struck and killed on Route 61 on Saturday near Saint Clair.


According to Saint Clair Police Chief William Dempsey, the incident occurred around 9:45pm, on Saturday, February 22nd, 2020 near the intersection of Route 61 Southbound and Ann Street.

Dempsey said John Joseph Hulet, 39, was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Route 61, driven by a man from Port Carbon.

The Schuylkill County Coroner's Office said that Hulet later died from his injuries at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian St.

An autopsy showed that Hulet died from blunt force trauma to the head, chest, and pelvic areas.

Chief Dempsey said the incident is still under investigation and more details will be released after the investigation is complete.
