On Friday afternoon, the Schuylkill Haven Dive Team, responded to a rescue of a deer on a frozen reservoir near Tamaqua.
Around 12:20pm, Friday, members of the Schuylkill Hose Company #2 Dive Team, Schuylkill Haven, responded to their station for a special assignment.
When the team assembled, they answered to a call to the Owl Creek Reservoir from the Pennsylvania Game Commission and Tamaqua Fire Department to rescue a deer that had ventured out on the frozen water and fell through.
The team then deployed one rescuer on the MARSARS ice rescue sled out onto the thin ice where they pulled themselves approximately 550ft out to the deer and attached a separate snare line around the deer's shoulders and torso and shore personnel were able to pull the animal in where it was then released by the game commission back into the wild.
