UPDATE: Argument Led to Gunfight in Pottsville Early Saturday

The Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven has released an update on what happened early Saturday when shots were fired and left 4 people injured in Pottsville.



According to police, on Saturday, February 29th, 2020, around 2:15am, multiple people leaving the rear exit of Woody's Bar & Backyard Paradise when a verbal argument ensued.

Police say Gerald Barrow, 28, and another suspected (who was not identified), each brandished a pistol and opened fire on one another.

The suspect was struck multiple times in the front torso and became disabled during the gun fight.

Gerald Stevens, 28, then retrieved the pistol from the suspect and attempted to return fire at Barrow who was retreating into the bar.

Barrow continued to fire multiple shots from inside the bar at Stevens who was still outside.

A Pottsville City police officer arrived on scene and discharged his firearm.

The suspect suffered multiple gun shot woulds to his front torso and was flown to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest and is listed in critical condition.

Stevens suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest and listed in stable condition.

Barrow was not injured.

A 33 year old victim was struck from a richocheted bullet and suffered a minor head injury.  He was treated and released.

A 44 year old victim suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and was flown to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest where he was listed in stable condition.

Charges were filed on Stevens for aggravated assault and other charges.

Charges were filed on Barrow for attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and other charges.
