Schuylkill County Crash Log for 05/29/2020

Below is a collection of reports from recent crashes in Schuylkill County.

No Injuries in Crash Caused by Driver Making U-Turn

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the two-vehicle crash occurred as April Ball, 49, of Reinholds, PA was attempting to make a u-turn on Route 125/Tremont Road near Molleystown Road in Tremont Township around 9:40am on May 23rd, 2020.

Police say Ball's Buick Encore was struck by Amber Madenford, 33, of Tremont while Ball attempted to make the u-turn improperly.

Both vehicle sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

No injuries were reported in the crash from either driver or the passengers in the vehicles.

Route 209 Crash Occurred in Porter Township When Driver Follows Too Close

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the crash occurred on East Grand Avenue in Porter Township Around 5:50pm on May 21st, 2020.

Police say the crash occurred near the intersection of Route 209 and South Yohe Street when a 17 year old driver was following two closed behind Letitia Resier, 64, of Pottsville.  The 17 year old driver rear ended Reiser as she slowed and attempted to make a left turn.

No injuries were reported.  The 17 year old will be cited for the crash.

Motorcyclist Injured in Wayne Township Crash

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the crash occurred as Alvaret Crosby, 60, of White Haven, was riding his Harley Davidson when he became distracted and lost control of the motorcycle and attempted to avoid hitting the motorcycle in front of her.

She laid the motorcycle onto it's side and suffered injuries to her head.

Crosby was transported from the scene by Schuylkill EMS to an area hospital.

Crosby will be cited for the crash.

Driver Falls Asleep and Crashes in West Brunswick Township

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the crash occurred on May 23rd, 2020 on Route 61 North in the area of Pheasant Run Road in West Brunswick Township.  Police say Levi Joulwan, 20, of Schuylkill Haven fell asleep while driving, left the roadway, and struck a utility pole.  

Joulwan was not injured in the crash and will be cited for the crash.

Deer to Blame for Burma Road Crash

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred on May 24th, 2020 around 9:00pm when Ronald Sallada, 46, of Mahanoy City was travelling east on Burma Road in Ryan Township near Brockton Mountain Road.

Police say Sallada said that a deer leapt out in front of him.  He struck the deer disabling his Volkswagen Tiguan.

Sallada and his passenger were not injured in the crash but the vehicle required towing from the scene.

Deer to Blame for Interstate 81 Crash

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred on May 25th, 2020 on Interstate 81 southbound near mile marker 131.

Police say Kiwanda Reddick, 47, of Silver Spring, MD, and two passengers were travelling on Interstate 81 south when a deer entered the roadway.

Reddick steered to avoid but still struck the deer.  

The vehicle sustained minor damage but a passenger suffered minor injuries from the airbag deployment.
