Ashland Man with Bench Warrant Charged with Assault for Strangling Woman

An Ashland man was charged with assault after allegedly strangling a woman this week.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, on Tuesday, July 14th, 2020 around 6:30pm, troopers responded to Centre Street in Ashland for a report of an assault.

Police say a female victim reported being assaulted by Sean Cooke, 29, of Ashland.  The victim refused medical treatment at the scene for her injuries.

Cooke was found to have a bench warrant for his arrest out of Northumberland County.

Cooke was taken into custody and arraigned on charges of strangulation, simple assault, and harassment by on-call Magisterial District Judge Anthony J. Kilker and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison.
