Driver Flees After Crashing Down Embankment in Mount Carbon

The driver of a vehicle involved in a crash early Tuesday fled the scene.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, the crash occurred around 5:50am, Tuesday, July 28th, 2020 on Bakery Road in Mount Carbon.

Police say Zachary Rudiman, 18, of Girardville was traveling on Bakery Road at an unsafe speed while negotiating a left curve and lost control of his Kia Optima.

The vehicle exiting off the right side of the roadway striking two trees and traveling a 20 foot embankment.

When emergency personnel arrived on scene, Rudiman was not at the scene and was not confirmed as the driver until several hours after the crash.

Rudiman will be cited for the crash.
