Frackville Fire Department Rescues St. Bernard from Porch Roof

The Frackville Fire Department was busy Wednesday evening after a St. Bernard made it's way onto a porch roof in the borough.

Around 7:00pm, Frackville Fire personnel were called with their ladder to a home in the borough for a special assignment.

According to Fire Chief Bill Lindenmuth, a St. Bernard, named Pete, opened a second floor window that was slightly open and made it's way out onto a back porch roof.

The owners were unable to get the dog back in through the window.

Frackville Police responded to the scene first and requested the fire department with the ladder for assistance.

The fire department was able to get the dog into a stokes basket and then get the basket onto the ladder to lower the dog to the ground.

Lindenmuth said the dog was not injured in the incident.
