Ashland Fire Department Responds to Trash Fire

On Thursday, the Ashland Fire Department responded to a home on Brock Street to assist police with an illegal burning incident.

Just after 1:00pm, the Ashland Fire Department was called to the 1200 Block of Brock Street in the borough for a special assignment.

Ashland Police Chief Ger Daley had called the fire department to a home that was illegally burning garbage.

The American Hose Company responded with their engine and the Washington Fire Company responded with their brush truck and extinguished the small garbage fire.

Chief Daley says the homeowner will be cited for violating the borough's burning ordinance.

Fire Chief Phil Groody spoke on the subject of "open burning" in the borough at a recent council meeting.

Groody reminded residents of the borough about Ordinance #823 that prohibits open burning of materials of any type within the borough including trash.
