Two Injured in Crash on Route 924 in Shenandoah on Friday

Two people were taken to the hospital with injuries after a crash in Shenandoah on Friday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred on Friday, July 3rd, 2020 just after 1:00pm on South Main Street/Route 924 on the south end of the borough.

Police say the crash occurred as Sonya Knapp, 24, of Shenandoah, was travelling south on Route 924 and attempted to pass in a no passing zone while second vehicle, driven by Peter Bridy, 37, of Mount Carmel was attempting to make a left turn into the Valero Gas Station.

Knapp's Chevrolet Equinox struck Bridy's Jeep Grand Cherokee, then continued and struck the nearby bridge.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage.

Knapp and a passenger in her vehicle, Jessica Knapp, 45, of Shenandoah sustained minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital via Shenandoah Ambulance.

Bridy, and two other passengers including a 1 year old that was properly secured were not injured.

Assisting police at the scene were the Rescue Hook and Ladder of Shenandoah, Columbia Fire Company, and West Mahanoy Township Police.
