Helen Yodis
, 97, of Mahanoy City, PA, passed away Monday, November 9th, at Shenandoah Senior Living Community, Shenandoah.

Helen was born in Mahanoy City, PA on January 3, 1923, a daughter of the late Rose (Saltonis) and Vincent Strokis.

She graduated from Mahanoy City High School.

She was a member of Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish Mahanoy City.

In her younger days she worked for the Army and Navy Munitions Board, as clerk typist Washington DC, General Cigar Company in Mahanoy City and Nanticoke.

She was wife of the late Bernard Yodis who passed away in November of 2001.

Helen is survived by a son, Peter, husband of Patricia Yodis, of Tamaqua; by a sister, Rita Boczkowski, of Mahanoy City, a brother, Ed, husband of Fran Domkus, of Shenandoah Heights; a grandson Joe and his wife Colleen, and a great-grandson Hayden and a great-granddaughter Michaela, of Downingtown, wnieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a brother Vincent.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Mahanoy City, PA, at 11 AM on Friday, November 13th, with Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating.

Friends may call Friday 10 AM at Saint Teresa of Calcutta Parish.

Interment will follow in St Joseph Cemetery Mahanoy City, PA.

Samuel P. Ulrich, age 79, of Pottsville, PA passed away Saturday, November 7th, 2020 at Schuylkill Center in Pottsville.

Born in Reading, PA on February 2, 1941, he was the son of the late Daniel Pierce and Jennie Madeline (Rossi) Ulrich.

Sam served in the U.S. Army as a Pvt from November 1958 till February 1962. He worked as a truck driver at Evans Delivery Company in Schuylkill Haven for 22 years, Murphy Trucking in Orwigsburg, and Apex Express in Jersey City, NJ for 17 years until retiring in 2009.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Dorothy M. (Neiman) Ulrich on March 24, 2009.

Sam is survived by a daughter Rose M. Booterbaugh and her husband Barry, Mt. Carbon; five sons: Robert L. Ulrich and his wife Paula, Allentown, Samuel P. Ulrich Jr. and his wife Tishea, Schuylkill Haven, Daniel P. Ulrich, New Philadelphia, Kerry D. Ulrich, New Philadelphia, and Keith A. Ulrich, Pottsville; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a brother James Ulrich and his wife Christine, Wernersville; two sisters: Ethel Heckman, Shoemakersville and Jenny Miller and her husband Donald, Exeter; and several nieces and nephews.

William I. Hahn, Jr, of Saint Clair, passed away November 8th, 2020 at home.

Born on March 20, 1950, he was the son of the late William I. Hahn and Regina (Stillwagner) Hahn, who survives him in Tamaqua.

Bill was employed by Lehigh Valley Dairy in Schuylkill Haven as a truck driver for 38 years.

In addition to his Mother, Bill is survived by his wife and soul mate of 51 and a half years, Susan; their daughter, his Queenie" Karen Geiger (husband Todd); three sons: Joe (wife Kim), Billy, and Bobby; grandchildren: AJ, Joey, Amanda, Chelsea, Robbie, Alyssa, and Lidia; three great-grandchildren; aunt Alice Swartz of Ringtown; two sisters and a brother; several nieces and nephews including his favorite Brenda Wilkinson Thorn; sister-in-law Barb Wilkinson, California; brother-in-law John Lubish, St. Clair; his best buddy Stacy Smulligan; and close family friend Hosler.

Catherine “Kitty” Reed, 91, of St. Clair, died Sunday November 8, 2020, at LVHN Schuylkill East.

Born in McAdoo, December 11, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Antoinette (Borycka) Henning.

Kitty worked in the garment industry for Phillip Van Heusen, as a Nurse’s Aide at the former Rest Haven Nursing Home, Schuylkill Haven, as a Clerk for Woolco, GeeBee and Value City Department Stores in Pottsville and as a Crossing Guard for the St. Clair Area School.

She was a member of St.Clare of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, St. Clair.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frederick Reed 1n 1991; 2 sisters Constance Cain and Genevieve Olson; brother John Henning; her companion Harry Dechert in 2015.

Surviving is a son Elwood C. “Woody” Reed and his wife Anne of Pottsville; sister Anastasia Bulino of Pottsville; nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Monday Nov. 16, 2020 from St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 319 Mahantongo St. Pottsville, PA 17901 with Rev. Barnabas Shayo officiating. Mary Welikonich
, 92, Frackville passed away peacefully on Sunday at Ridgeview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Shenandoah.

Born in Gilberton, she was a daughter of the late Louis and Mary Galida Welikonich.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 3 brothers: Nicholas, Michael and John “Jack” Welikonich; her three sisters: Annie Subich, Evelyn Balsavage and Irene Pellish.

Mary is survived by several nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces.

Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Frackville with Rev. Petro Zvarych, pastor, as the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Englewood, Frackville.

June W. Albers
, 93, of Ephrata passed away at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital on Sunday, November 8, 2020.

Born in Tower City on June 4, 1927, a daughter of the late H. Alvin and R. Virginia Ruch Ritzman. She was married to the late Commander (Ret.) R. J. Albers, USN, for forty years.

June was a graduate of Tower City High School; Kutztown State Teacher's College, University of Wyoming, Interamerican University (Mexico), Escuela Americana (Burgos, Spain), University of Delaware where she did post graduate work and North Light Art School. She taught school in Wyoming and Montana. In 1961, she was Fulbright Scholar to Spain and accepted a teaching position with U.S. Navy in Rota, Spain where she taught English and History in the dependent schools. She was gifted in many areas but gravitated to the arts of oils and watercolors. June was an accomplished water colorist, having had showings in Florida and her work hangs in private collections in several states.

She is survived by siblings, Joan Ritzman, Ephrata and James Ritzman, Sr., Tower City. Also surviving are nephews and nieces: Rosanne (Bob) Barder, Lykens; Harold (Leni) Ritzman Jr, Harrisburg; James (Kathy) Ritzman, Jr., Tower City; Roxanne Ritzman, SC; and Darren Ritzman, Lykens; Many cousins also survive.

In addition to her husband (2004) and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Harold A. Ritzman.

Beside teaching school, she was a Lutheran church secretary in Orange Park, FL and was currently a member of Brickerville United Lutheran Church, Lititz.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in the Greenwood Cemetery, Tower City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation, or the Brickerville United Lutheran Church, 320 E. 28th Division Highway, Lititz, PA 17543. Rose Margaret (Peggy) Huss
, RN, 81, of Ringtown, passed peacefully Friday, November 6th, 2020 at her residence.

Peggy was born in Shenandoah, on November 30, 1938, a daughter of the late Lila (McAndrew) and Gustav Welna. A graduate of the Immaculate Heart High School, she went on to become a registered nurse, with a career that spanned over 40 years. She began her nursing career at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hazleton, then later worked at the State Correctional Institutions in Frackville and Mahanoy Township. She ended her career as a traveling nurse and enjoyed the new friendships she made helping others in need.

Peggy will be remembered for her devotion to the Catholic faith and the many Nuns who were blessed by her friendship. She was also very proud of her award winning Christmas window display, which graced her home yearly.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by two sisters.

She is survived by a son George Huss and his wife Cindy, of Shenandoah; a daughter Caroline, wife of Mark Blumberg, of Mt. Laurel, NJ; a sister Sue, wife of Jim Rovito, of Frackville and a sister Cindy Welna, of Torrance, CA.

Peggy "MamMam" will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Michael Huss and his wife Brooke; Ahna Huss; Justin Blumberg; Amanda Blumberg; Jack Blumberg and 2 great grandchildren, Natalie Huss and Calysta Huss. Peggy also leaves behind her beloved dog, DeeDee.

Msgr. Ronald Bocian will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM on Friday, November 13th, 2020 at the Divine Mercy Parish, West Cherry Street, Shenandoah.

Relatives and friends are asked to meet at the church for the 11 AM Mass.

Peggy will be laid to rest in the Old St. Casimir's Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights during private services for her family.

Vicki Lynn Zorkowski
, 51, of Mahanoy City, passed away Wednesday, November 2nd, at her residence. 

Vicki was born in Reading, Pa. on July 2, 1969, a daughter of Janice C. (Gerner) VanEtten and the late Keith E. VanEtten. She a former EMT at Minersville Good Intent and a Home Health Care Aide. Vicki was a beloved daughter, mother and grandmother. She loved her children and grandchildren. She was a good friend to all. She wouldn’t hesitate to help anyone…...even at her own expense. She was often known to go for walks in the woods and just sit for a long while. We loved her very much and she will surely be missed. God Bless you Vic. 

Vicki was preceded in death by her Father, Keith E. VanEtten, Brother: Jamie VanEtten, Infant Daughter: Kayla. Vicki is survived by her husband, Frank Zorkowski, her mother, Janice Van Etten, a daughter, Alysha Armstead wife of Eugene two sons Paul, Barlet III husband of Amy Gottschall, Taylor Beury. Vicki is also survived by brothers; Brad VanEtten, Corey Van Etten..and Paiton VanEtten. 

She is also survived by grandchildren; Marissa Flammer, Morgan Barlet, Janessa, Emilie, Elisha & Eugene Jr Armstead, Nephew, Paiton VanEtten.
