Utility Pole Snapped in Half in Crash near Cressona

 

A man was taken to the hospital after a crash near Cressona on Thursday.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the crash occurred around 11:50pm, at the intersection of Morningside Drive and Route 183 in North Manheim Township.

Police say the crash occurred when Robert Kane, 19, of Minersville was traveling on Morningside Drive, left the roadway and struck a utility pole causing it to split in half.

Kane's vehicle spun numerous times coming to a rest in a nearby cornfield.

Kane was reported to have suffered head and neck injuries in the crash and was transported to an area hospital via Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven EMS.

Morningside Drive was closed while the utility pole was repaired.

Kane will be cited for the crash.
