UPDATE: Pottsville Man Shoots Dog and Injures Man on West Market Street

The Pottsville Police have provided an update on Thursday afternoon's incident on West Market Street.

According to Chief Richard Wojciechowsky, on Thursday afternoon around 1:30pm,  Pottsville Bureau of Police officers were dispatched to an incident involving gunshots in the area of 4th and W. Market Streets. 

At the scene, Officers learned that Seth Clayton Howard, 34, of Pottsville had discharged a .40 calibre Glock handgun multiple times at a dog and one of the projectiles had struck a 35 year old Pottsville man.

The dog was found to be deceased at the scene and the male victim was transported by Pottsville EMS to a medical facility for treatment of what was reported to be one non-life threatening injury. 

Howard put the handgun down after the shots were fired and a Pa State Constable in the area at the time of the incident assisted with securing the weapon as police arrived and he was immediately taken into custody.

The investigation is continuing and additional information will be released when accumulated and confirmed
