Water is Safe to Drink Again in Auburn

Borough officials say that it's safe to drink the water again in a borough in Schuylkill County.

Over the weekend, State Police received a report from the Auburn Municipal Authority that some time between Friday, February 19th, 2021 and Sunday, February 21st, 2021, two unknown suspects broke into a secure area around the borough's water storage tank near Cemetery Road.

Troopers say the suspects climbed the tower and damaged an aluminum vent at the top of the 300,000 gallon tank.

As a precaution, borough officials and troopers urged that community not to drink the water while it was tested for pollutants.

On Thursday, borough officials announced that water was tested, nothing was found, and is now safe to drink again.

There has been no word if the suspects were caught in relation to the incident.
