Man Flown After Being Found with Self Inflicted Gunshot Wound near Saint Clair

A man was flown to an area hospital on Sunday after being found with a self inflicted gunshot wound.

Around 1:00pm, Sunday, emergency personnel were dispatched to an area, approximately a mile and half  in a wooded area from Darkwater Road, in New Castle Township, for an off road rescue.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the rescue was for a male that was found with a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Upon arrival to the scene, vital signs were obtained and additional help and EMS was requested.

The male was transported from the wooded area by fire/EMS utilizing a UTV and transported to Saint Clair where a landing zone was setup near the football field.

The male was airlifted to Geisinger where he is being treated.
