During Wednesday's Ashland Borough Council meeting, council approved the hiring of an additional full-time police officer.
For several years, Ashland has operated with two full time police officers, one being Chief Ger Daley and the other being Officer Dan Weikel.
After working for several months as a part time officer for the borough, Cody Searfoss was hired as the new full time officer.
The vote was unanimous from all council members.
In additional personnel news, the borough also hired Robert Bidgood as a borough worker.
