Mahanoy Plane Man Arrested After Damaging Property and Breaking into Abandoned Home

A Mahanoy Plane man is facing charges after an incident last month.

According to Frackville Police, on June 27th, 2021, around 2:15pm, County Dispatch received a report that a man, identified as Jeffrey McCarthy, 33, was acting out at 16 Bridge Street by smashing items and windows at the home.

Patrolman Anthony Kankowski responded to find that McCarthy had left the home and ran across the backyard and broke into a nearby abandoned home on Water Street.

McCarthy was found to be throwing items out of the home from a window into the backyard.

West Mahanoy Township Police Chief Marvin Livergood arrived at the scene to assist and took McCarthy into custody with  no further incidents.

Police believe McCarthy was under the influence of a controlled substance as he didn't make any sense when asked questions.

An investigation revealed that McCarthy damaged a front and kitchen window of the original home when the call was placed before fleeing to the abandoned home.  McCarthy was related to the person that owned the home and was staying with them.

McCarthy was charged by Frackville Police with criminal trespass and criminal mischief and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison on $25,000 straight cash bail.

McCarthy was released after a preliminary hearing was held on July 7th, 2021 before Magisterial District Judge David J. Rossi who changed bail from cash to unsecured.
