Pedestrian Struck Along Route 924 near Shenandoah Early Tuesday

State Police are investigating an incident after a pedestrian was struck in Mahanoy Township early Tuesday.

According to Troopers from the Frackville Barracks, around 5:30am, Tuesday, Dorothy Laureti, 80, of Shenandoah was driving south on Route 924 near the intersection of with Pennsylvania Avenue in West Mahanoy Township when she struck Joseph Piekarsy, 31, also of Shenandoah.  Piekarsky was walking along the right shoulder at the time of the incident.

Piekarsky was transported to Reading Hospital for his injuries by Schuylkill EMS.

Charges against Laureti are pending an investigation into the incident.
