State Police File Arson Charges on Virginia Man for Starting Fire at Treatment Center near Mahanoy City


The Pennsylvania State Police have filed arson charges on a man from Virginia for starting a fire at treatment center near Mahanoy City last week.

According to Troopers from the Frackville Barracks, on Friday, October 22nd, 202, around 6:00pm, troopers responded to the Silver Pine Treatment Center on White Owl Avenue in Mahanoy Township near Mahanoy City for a report of a suicidal subject.

When police arrived, they found Karl Boehley, 23, of Arlington, VA, holding a large kitchen knife.

Boehley dropped the knife and continued to his dorm room inside the facility where he entered the bathroom and lit a plastic garbage can on fire.

Boehley was removed from the bathroom and placed into custody and the fire was extinguished.  The fire was reported to have caused damage to items within the bathroom.

Boehley was charged with Arson to an inhabited building, causing catastrophe, harassment, and criminal mischief.

The Mahanoy City Fire Department also responded to this incident and remained on-scene for approximately a half hour.
