Fire Damages Home in Pottsville


 A fire damaged a home displacing several people in Pottsville on Tuesday afternoon.

Just after 12:00pm, Tuesday, emergency personnel were called to the 500 block of West Market Street in Pottsville for a house fire.

Schuylkill County 911 advised Chief James Misstishen while in route multiple calls came in for the fire near Garfield Square with the Chief noting that he could see a column of smoke from his location.

A report was also received of possible entrapment with an individual on the 2nd floor.

Pottsville, Minersville, and Schuylkill Haven Fire worked the scene for over an hour before bringing the fire under control but not before severely damaging the structure.

Firefighters swept the building looking for the person possible entrapped but the search turned up negative, and all occupants would later be accounted for.

A State Police Fire Marshal was requested to the scene to investigate a cause.

The American Red Cross is assisting the two people that lived in the building.
