Rosemary A. Szczyglak “Rosie”, 91, of Shenandoah, passed away on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Wednesday, December 8th , 2021, a devotion she held so dearly to the Blessed Mother.

Born in Shenandoah on October 9th, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Joseph Jevelle and Mary Vernalis.

Rosie was a 1948 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School in Shenandoah. She then worked 44 years in the local garment industry, specifically for Christina Dress Factory in Shenandoah Heights. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Casimir’s Church, Shenandoah where she attended daily mass for many years, until her health would no longer allow. Rosie enjoyed volunteering her time at the Shenandoah Senior Citizen’s Center working in the kitchen. She was also a proud pierogi maker for Divine Mercy Parish. Above all else, she was dedicated to her family and loved spending time with each of them, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored.

Besides her parents, Rosie was preceded by her husband, John A. “Jack” Szczyglak in 2007, a daughter, Mary Jo Szczyglak in 1996, and 3 sisters, Baby Wilhelmina Jevelle, Marceline Ruth, and Helene Durrette.

She leaves behind a daughter, Annette Yankus with her husband Andy – Mahanoy City, a son, John Szczyglak with his wife Barb – Shenandoah, 5 grandchildren, Andrew Szczyglak with whom she lived with, Angela Yankus with her fiancĂ© Mike Tomko, Maria Yankus, John Szczyglak III with Shannon Goodman, and Marissa Szczyglak with Alberto Ruiz. She also leaves nieces and nephews whom she considered like her own children, Helene Creasy with Mike, Joseph Ruth with Denise, Mark Fenedick with Karen, and Regina Smith with Will.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 11th from 8am to 10am in Divine Mercy Parish – Sacred Worship Site – St. Casimir’s, 229 N. Jardin St, Shenandoah. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am and will be officiated by Msgr. Ronald Bocian. Burial will immediately follow in St. Casimir’s Parish Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights.

Arrangements are entrusted to both the Oravitz Home for Funerals Inc., Shenandoah and the Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Frackville.

Norma K. (Winterer) Hubler, 99, formerly of Mechanicsville. Died Saturday, December 4th at Sunrise of Fairfax VA.

Born July 4, 1922 in Diener’s Hill, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Mary H. (Jones) Winterer.

She was a graduate of Pottsville High School. A member of Primrose Bible Church, Primrose where she taught child Evangelism classes for 40 years. She was also a member of the Schuylkill Haven Senior Citizen’s and the Christian Women’s Club.

Norma worked alongside of her husband the late Malcolm D. Hubler as an office manager for Malcolm Hubler Electrical Contracting.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Malcolm F. Hubler (1991) and a sister Audrey Spiess.

Norma is survived by a son Marlin H. Hubler; daughter in law Dawn Hubler, Fairfax VA; 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren. And several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December14 at Noon on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Rev. Keith McCarthy and Rev. Ed Eifert will be officiating.

Joseph Philip Ferraiolo, Jr.
, 61, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Saturday, December 4th, at Geisinger St. Luke's Orwigsburg.

Joseph was born in Pottsville, on July 22, 1960, a son of Mary Ann (Rabbitz) Horn, of Orwigsburg, and the late Joseph Philip Ferraiolo, Sr.

Joseph was the Loving companion of Cynthia Sterner, of Schuylkill Haven.
He graduated from Shenandoah High School, Class of 1978. He attended North Vo-tech and Penn State, Schuylkill Campus, for becoming a Machinist.

In addition to his mother, Mary Ann and his companion, Cindy, Joseph is survived by three brothers, Mark Ferraiolo, husband of Lori; Dave Ferraiolo, husband of Donna and Brian Ferraiolo.
He was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Ferraiolo in 2017

A Religious Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 13th at Hamilton - Breiner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. in Orwigsburg, with Rev. Preston Broadhurst officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Guests are asked to wear masks and follow CDC guidelines to limit the spread of COVID-19. Interment will be at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Inc. Schuylkill Haven. Anna Mae Long, 90, of Saint Clair, passed away peacefully Monday at her home with her family by her side.

Born June 22, 1931, she was raised by the Krammes Family in Pine Grove.

Anna worked as a knitter for ARGO Mills for many years.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville.

Anna loved her family and especially loved helping to raise her grand, great, and great-great grandkids. She enjoyed hosting family picnics and outdoor events.

Anna is predeceased by her husband, William, who passed away in 1980. She is also preceded in death by her daughters, Donna Drye and Mary Stoltz.

She is survived by her sons, William Jr. and David Long and Richard Stoltz. She is also survived by grandchildren, Tiffany Long, companion to Joshua Hickey, Tamara Long, companion to Tyler Davis, David Long Jr., husband to Stacy; along with numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, June Putlock, Faye Shay, Sally Kintzel, Shirley Kehler, Betty Walters and George Cressman.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. Memories and condolences can be shared at www.grabowskifuneralhome.com.

David K. “Pap” Hoppes, 62, of Andreas, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2021, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. Born in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Harvey F. and Phyllis M. (Deem) Hoppes.

Prior to retiring, he was employed as an Operating Engineer with IUOE Local 542. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the Tamaqua F&AM Lodge 238, West Penn Rod and Gun Club and a graduate of Tamaqua Class of 1976. Pap enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, hunting, and fishing. He loved his dog Daisy, life on his farm, the family homestead, family, and friends. He was an avid blood donor and he lived life to the fullest. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Darren S. and sister-in-law, Tina. Surviving is his companion, Pattie Bennett; two brothers, Dale R., and his wife Dora, and Dwain H.; sister, Colleen D., all of Andreas; three nieces, Pamela Hoppes, Sarah, wife of Benjamin Fink, and Megan, wife of John Hine; nephew, Kyle Hoppes.

Services will be private. A private visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, December 12, from 4 to 5pm. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 3551 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19140, or the West Penn Rod and Gun Club, 1047 Clamtown Rd., Tamaqua, PA 18252.
