2022 Dog Licenses Now Available Through Schuylkill County Treasurer's Office
Schuylkill County Treasurer Linda Marchalk is reminding all Schuylkill County dog owners that the 2022 dog licenses are now on sale.
State law requires that all dogs three months or older be licensed by January 1, 2022. The fee for an annual license is $8.50 and $6.50 if the dog is spayed or neutered. Discount rates are available for senior citizens over the age of 65 and for persons with disabilities, at $6.50 for an annual license or $4.50 if the dog is spayed or neutered.
Dog License Applications may be mailed to the Schuylkill County Treasurer, 401 North Second Street, Pottsville, PA 17901 or can be purchased on-line at www.padoglicense.com (a $2.00 fee applies per dog). IF YOU HAVE A P.O. BOX, YOU MUST ALSO INCLUDE YOUR STREET ADDRESS.
Lifetime Licenses are available for dogs that have been microchipped. A Permanent Identification Verification Form must be completed by a veterinarian along with a Lifetime Application. The Permanent Identification Verification Form is only valid for thirty days after completion by the veterinarian. The fee for a lifetime license is $51.50 or $31.50 if the dog is spayed or neutered. The discount rate for senior citizens over the age of 65 and for persons with disabilities, is $31.50 or $21.50 if the dog is spayed or neutered.
The owner’s contact information is used by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Dog Law, local police and shelters to identify lost dogs and get them home safely. Failure to license a dog is a summary offense and a maximum fine of $300 for each unlicensed dog may be issued.
