State Police Investigating Home Improvement Fraud Scam in Berks County


A Delaware man and his juvenile son were arrested for home improvement fraud in Berks County.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Reading, on Friday, December 31st, 2021, around 11:50am, Troopers responded to a home in Longswamp Township where an elderly victim reported he was the scammed.

Police say, James Patrick Burke, 50, of Bear, DE and his son attempted to scam the victim for $3,800 by claiming his chimney needed repairs.

Burke and his son were placed under arrest for fraud and other related charges.

State Police believe Burke may have attempted to scam other residents of Berks County or the surrounding areas.
