Over 4,000 Rubber Ducks Swim Down Mill Creek During Annual Avenues Race

On Sunday, Avenues held the 34th Annual Rubber Ducky Race in Saint Clair.

The day's festivities began in the Walmart parking lot where a basket auction was held with food and vendors.  WMGH provided music and broadcasted live from the event.  A basket raffle was also held.

Many people had the opportunity to get a picture taken with Ducky Do Good while entering to win a prize package and enjoying the many displays and great food at the event.

The culmination of the day was the Rubber Ducky race that was scheduled to begin at 3:32pm where over 4,000 ducks were dumped into Mill Creek.  The ducks raced to the bridge at Terry Rich Boulevard.

Members had been fundraising by selling rubber ducks for $5 over the past couple months.  Over 500 ducks were sold at the event on Sunday alone.  The prize, $2,022 in cash to the person who purchased the duck at arrived at the finish line first.

Kimberly S. Noel, Avenues Marketing and Special Events Manager states, “We are so grateful for all of the sponsors, businesses, organizations, and people who support this event every year. We hope everyone enjoyed this year’s duck race as much as we did.”

All the ducks were recovered from the creek after the race.
