Alice I. Marberger, 92, of Orwigsburg, passed away Sunday, May 29th, at Seton Manor, where she was a resident.

Born in Friedensburg, on June 8, 1929, a daughter of the late Mable (Berger) and Charles Marberger.

She was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Cressona and the Cressona American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She was a graduate of Cressona High School and was then employed by American Argo as a trimmer.

Alice was preceded in death by her twin sister Mary Marberger, sister Emma Singley and brother Charles Marberger.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 on Thursday, June 2nd at Ebling-Stabingas Funeral Home in Cressona, with Rev. Karl Jones officiating.

A viewing will be held from 9 am until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Interment at Saint John's Union Cemetery, Friedensburg.

David W. Yost
, age 61, of Pottsville, PA passed away on Thursday, May 26th, 2022 at his home.

Born in Pottsville, PA on March 8, 1961, he was the son of the late Joseph W. and Thelma A. (Bechtel) Yost.

David was a graduate of Pottsville High School. He worked as a machine operator at Car Tech in Deer Lake.

David was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved cars.

David is survived by a son David J. Yost, Minersville; a brother Joseph P. Yost, Mechanicsville; a sister Ruth A. O'Leary and her husband Dan, Reading; three nieces: Kelly, Tina, and Kate; a nephew James; two great nieces Aurora and Athena; and two great nephews Ezra and Isiah.

A Religious Service will be held at the Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home in Port Carbon at 1PM on Friday, June 3rd, with Deacon Jack Quirk officiating.

Relatives and Friends are invited to a viewing on Thursday evening 6-8PM and Friday from 12-1PM at the Funeral Home.

Interment will be held in the Schuylkill Memorial Park Cemetery in Schuylkill Haven.

Kathleen Urbanowicz
, 79, of Ashland passed away Tuesday afternoon at her home.

She was born on May 7, 1943 in Locustdale and was the daughter of the late Mary (Spieles) and Thomas Corrigan.

Kathy graduated from Ashland High School with the Class of 1961 and attended HACC where she studied business.

She was of the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Charles Borromeo, Ashland

Kathy worked most of her career as a waitress and at McDonald’s in the Schuylkill Mall.

She liked going to casinos and playing the lottery. Her pride and joy were her 3 grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by; sister Betty Fabrizio; sister Mary Joan Huben; sister Jean O’Neill.

Kathy is survived by; son Alan Urbanowicz husband of Tiffany, Ashland; brother Bill Corrigan, Elysburg; 3 grandchildren Julian, Natalie, & Kate; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday June 3rd at 11:00 AM from St. Charles Borromeo, 1115 S Walnut St, Ashland PA with Fr. Brian Miller officiating. Family and friends are invited to call in the church from 10-11:00 AM. Interment will follow services at St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashland.

Gerald “Butch” Martin Shappell
, 76 of Elizabethtown formerly of Pottsville passed away on Monday surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Pottsville, June 29, 1945 he was the son of the late Clarence and Anna Sabaday Shappell.

His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were his everything. Known for being goofy, always singing and dancing, especially to old country music. Jerry was very well known for his amazing cooking. A dedicated and hard worker, Jerry had worked for many years at the Pottsville Hospital as a cook with his brother. He also worked twenty plus years at the Schuylkill County Prison where he retired as manager of canteen food services. He also worked as a cook for Tasone’s Catering.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Robert “Kusho”, Clarence “Sam”, John “Yonko”, Ronald “Herm”, Edward “Spade”, Ronald “Hermie” and sisters Rosie Prokop, Delores “Tootsie” Greenberg and Anna Mae Charlock.

Jerry will be greatly missed by his remaining family. He is survived by his son Brett, husband to Ami and daughters Nicole and Courtney. He is also survived by grandchildren Cody, Dominick, Brittney, Jacob, Khylee and great grandchildren Journee and Patrick along with a sister, Barbara Haslam wife of Ron.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Grabowski Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven. A viewing will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services. Interment will follow on the grounds of Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
