The Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven have released the identity of the victim involved in a fatal lawnmower accident in Wayne Township.
According to Troopers, just after 4:30pm on Thursday, emergency personnel were called to the intersection of Browns Road and Browns Church Road to assist EMS with a call for a male trapped under a tractor.
Troopers arrived to find Jon Lippert, 79, of Wayne Township deceased under the mower deck of a zero turn lawn mower by the mailbox of his property.
Family members told police that Lippert had used the mower as a means to retrieve his mail each day due to his declining health. The emergency cutoff under the seat of the mower had been previously disabled. While retrieving his mail, Lippert lost control of the machine which caused it to run over him.
Summit Station Fire Company and the Schuylkill County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.
State Police have ruled the Lippert's death accidental.
