The Schuylkill Conservation District has announced several upcoming events for the fall season scheduled at Sweet Arrow Lake Park near Pine Grove.
Earth and Space Day
Join Jeri Jones and Brittany Martin of Jones Geological Services, Spring Grove, Pa. for Earth & Space Day at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park on Saturday, October 1, 2022.There will be two programs (listed below) that will meet at the Waterfall Pavilion.
- Volcanoes and Earthquakes 3:00–4:00 p.m. - Jeri Jones and Brittany Martin will present an interactive program about why we have volcanoes erupting in certain regions around the world and what is the importance of having these dramatic mountains. They will also discuss where earthquakes occur, how they are recorded and the dangers involved. All participants will erupt several types of volcanoes and make earthquakes. This program is designed for children.
- Astronomy Night 7:15–9:00 p.m. - Jeri Jones and Brittany Martin will present an evening under the stars. Participants will view the moon, Jupiter and Saturn along with some of the summer favorite galaxies, star clusters and nebulae through telescopes. We will also identify constellations and attempt to spot satellites. If weather does not permit viewing, there will be a PowerPoint presentation in the pavilion.
Fall ‘n Leaf Hike
Join “Porcupine Pat” at the Waterfall Pavilion of Sweet Arrow Lake County Park on Saturday, October 8, 2022, 10:00-11:00 a.m. for a Fall hike.Nature’s engine turns again and a new season is in place. Let’s hike to enjoy the colorful scenes of Fall.
