Rain interrupts Big Diamond Coalcracker Night

The rain interrupted Coalcracker Night in progress Sunday night at Big Diamond.

With the Crate Sportsman consolation race on the track, Mother Nature decided to throw a wrench into everyone’s party. After one lap was complete, the rains hit the track and hit it hard resulting in the cars being told to head to the pits to wait out the rain. Once the rain stopped, the track crew tried to dry out the track, but the damage had been done. With the high humidity and more rain on the horizon, the hard decision was made to postpone the remainder of the show. With Monday’s forecast not favorable, promoter Jake Smulley made the ultimate decision to have the remainder of the Coalcracker show run next Friday night September 9th. Details to follow.

41 Insigner Performance modifieds signed in on Sunday all set to compete for the $17,000 first place prize. Four hard fought heat races were run with Brett Kressley, Dillon Steuer, Craig Von Dohren and Sammy Martz Jr all victorious. Louden Reimert and Timmy Buckwalter won the two consolation races.

The heat races in the USS Achey Crate 602 Sportsman division were won by Daryl Dissinger, Zane Roth and 2022 champion Brandon Edgar. The consolation race for the Crate Sportsman will be the first race run when the show continues next Friday night.

Andrew Fayash III returned after a lengthy absence to win the 20-lap Red White and Blue Autos Roadrunner feature over 2022 champion Alex Schoffstall. Chuck Fayash, TJ Fitzpatrick and Mike Reichert completed the top five.
