SrA Kohl John Reed
, 22, of the United States Air Force tragically passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022 in a motorcycle accident in Dover, Delaware.

Born on August 27, 2000, he was the son of Laura A. (Lebby) Reed and Kristopher A. Reed of Marysville, PA

Kohl attended the former Trinity Academy, Shenandoah from preschool until 8th grade and graduated from Susquenita High School in 2019.

After high school, Kohl enlisted in the United States Air Force. Following graduation from Basic Training and Technical Training, he was assigned to the 436th Aerial Port Squadron in Dover, DE. Kohl served as a Ramp Operations Specialist and recently achieved certification as a C-17 Aerial Port Expeditor (APEX) Load Director.

It is with great pride that we can say that Kohl made a lasting impression on everyone he met with his charm which was only overshadowed by his heart. Kohl’s desire to make the best of every situation led him to be the life of the party. The same as fast cars, loud bikes, and bonfires would light up his day, his perfect smile and contagious laugh would light up everyone else’s. He refused to allow one hour to ruin the other twenty-three and he always had your six. His energy, mischievousness, and passion for life are what his family, friends, and brothers and sisters In-Arms will remember most.

He was proceeded in death by his Dziadzi Jack Lebby; great-grandparents, Charles and Kathleen Merchlinsky, and John and Regina Lebby.

In addition to his parents, Kohl is survived by his sisters, Brye Elle Wojcik, Kylie Reed, and Kendall Reed of Marysville; grandparents, Virginia and Joseph McAndrew of Shenandoah and Lois and Richard Reed of Spring Grove.

Kohl is also survived by his Uncle John Paul and Cioci Amanda Lebby; cousins, John Paul, Naomi, and Chase Lebby; step-father, Peter Wojcik; grandparents, John and Peterine Wojcik; biological father, Brad Wambach and step-mother, Rebecca; and Uncle Travis Reed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 11:30 am in St. Casimir’s Church, 229 North Jardin Street, Shenandoah with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor as the celebrant. A viewing will be held on Tuesday morning prior to the Mass at St. Casimir’s Church from 9:30 am until 11:30 am. Interment with military honors will follow on Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kohl’s name to tilvalhallaproject.com.

Mr. Joseph F. Dowd, age 86, of Mahanoy City, passed away Friday morning at Pottsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. 

 Born in Mahanoy City he was the son of the late John and Mary (Reardon) Dowd. He was a graduate of Mahanoy City High School and the Pennsylvania State Police Academy. He worked as a trooper for the Pennsylvania State Police and last worked as a detective for the Pennsylvania State Attorney General. He coached little league and was and avid Boston Red Sox Fan. 

 He was preceded in death by his wife Georgine in 2013 a sister Mary Ann E. Miller and a grandson Brandon Wentz. Survivors include a daughter Kathy and her husband Ed Roman of Collegeville, two sons Tim of Frackville and Joseph and his wife Kelly of San Clemente, CA, a brother Patrick of Pottsville, two grandchildren Tyler Roman and Audrey Dowd, nieces and nephews and his closest friends who's relationships were stalwart and enduring. 

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher of Thursday morning at 11 AM from St. Teresa of Calcutta Church in Mahanoy City. 

Friends may call at the church on Thursday beginning at 9:30 AM. David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City is in charge of arrangements.

Sandra Lee Kopinetz, 69, of Minersville, passed away Thursday, September 22nd, at Schuylkill Medical Center East, Pottsville. 

Sandra was born in Pottsville, on December 1, 1952, a daughter of the late Eva (Kimmel) and Mervin Bixler. She was the widow of Frederick P. Kopinetz. Sandy was a graduate of Minersville Area High School Class of 1970. 1970. Along wither husband, Fred, she had formerly owned & operated the once popular bar and music venue “Sandy’s” in Minersville. 

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Fred, she was preceded in death by her sister, Debbie Slane, and an infant brother, David Bixler. 

Sandy is survived by two daughters, Carrie Kopinetz-Gaburick, and Caitlin Kopinetz, two sons Jamie Kopinetz, and Brandon Kopinetz She is also survived by 9 grandchildren. 

A visitation will be held Wednesday with calling hours from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville.
