Man Wanted in Lehigh County Taken into Custody in West Penn Township

West Penn Township Police arrested a man wanted in Lehigh County.

According to Township Police, on Friday, October 14th, 2022, West Penn Township Police stopped a vehicle after receiving a hit on the license plate reader for an expire registration.

During the course of the stop, the drive was identified as Jonathan Smith Sanchez, 33, of Allentown.  Sanchez was found to be driving with a suspended license, no insurance, and the vehicles inspection was expired.  He was also found to be in possession of a loaded 40 cal handgun.

A check of Sanchez's information led to the finding that he had an outstanding bench warrant from Lehigh County and multiple outstanding warrants for summary traffic violations.

Sanchez was taken into custody on the outstanding warrant and locked up in Schuylkill County Prison.

West Penn Township Police also filed charges for carrying a firearm without a permit, possessing a firearm as a fugitive from justice, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving under suspension, driving without insurance, and driving with expired inspection.
