Robert A. Hughes, 58, of Annville, and formerly of Pottsville, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday in his residence.

Born in Pottsville on August 31, 1964, he was a son of Anne (Ryan) and the late Thomas G. Hughes, Sr.

He attended Nativity BMV and was a 1982 graduate of Pottsville High School.

Rob worked in the printing industry as a press operator for various companies through the years.

He enjoyed watching football and was a "Loyal Penn State Fan".

In addition to his mother, he is survived by brother, Thomas G. Hughes Jr., husband of Donna M., of Pottsville; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, with Deacon Jack Quirk officiating. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.

Interment will follow in St. John #2 Cemetery, Pottsville.

Brian E. Shovlin
, 56, Ashland, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 9th at Lehigh Valley Hospital Schuylkill East, Pottsville.

Born in Columbia, PA, he was a son of John and Lorraine (Hammer) Shovlin of Plains. He worked as a security guard at SCI Mahanoy Prison. Brian was a United States Army Veteran having served from 1985 to 1993.

Brian loved his family especially his two children. He enjoyed watching Eve play basketball and was so proud to see his son graduate high school last year. He loved spending time with family for dinner and holidays. He was an avid Miami Dolphins and New York Yankees fan.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his two children Zachary Shovlin and Eve Shovlin of Ashland; mother of the children, Mary Jo Shovlin (Pancheri), Catawissa; his two brothers: Douglas Sarbaugh and his wife Debra, Bethlehem; Richard Sarbaugh and his wife Barbara, Forty Fort; his two sisters: Connie Taylor and her husband Robert, Jamestown, Ohio; Tamrya Shovlin of Plains; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, trusts will be set up for his children and more information will be provided when completed.

Robert Mellott, 95, Ashland passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, November 11th.

Born in Bedford, PA, he was a son of the late Judson and Grace Shirm Mellott. He worked as a welder for Reading Anthracite until his retirement.

Robert was a United States Navy Veteran serving in World War II.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife Patsy Erb Mellott.

Private graveside services will be held at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, St. Clair.

Teresa M. (Tracy) Zawatwicz
, 97 years of age, of Philadelphia, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Born Monday, January 19, 1925 in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Daniel, and Veronica (Fulmer) Tracy. She was also predeceased by; husband, John M. Zawatwicz; sisters, Rose McCarrol, Sylvia Arner, Catherine Secara; brothers, Michael, Francis, Thomas, Daniel, Clement, Jerome, and Joseph Tracy.

Surviving are sons, John Michael Zawatwicz and his wife Linda of Cinnaminson, NJ, Joseph Thomas Zawatwicz of Philadelphia; brothers, Charlie Tracy, John Tracy and his wife Patty both of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Nicole Lynn Stagliano and her husband Thomas, Joseph Thomas Zawatwicz and his wife Kari, along with her great grandchildren Luca, Noah, Giovanni, Shane, Callie and Mia. Many nieces and nephews also survive Teresa.

A 1945 graduate of the former St. Jerome high School, Teresa was devoted to her catholic faith. She worked as an usher for the Erie Bingo Hall in Philadelphia for 27 years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday November 21, 2022 at 2 o'clock P.M. from St. John XXIII R.C.C. 307 Pine Street Tamaqua, Pennsylvania 18252.

Interment will be in St. Jerome R.C.C. Cemetery, Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

Dolores Lesher, 86, of Ashland, passed away Friday morning at Hershey Medical Center.

Susanne J. Bonsted, 74, of Tamaqua, passed away Wednesday afternoon at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on May 16, 1948, in Coaldale and was the daughter of the late Muriel (York) and George Rudd.

Susanne married her surviving husband, John K. Bonsted, in 1968.

She was a homemaker and a seamstress who enjoyed sewing.

Susanne was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Tamaqua.

In addition to her parents, Susanne is preceded in death by a brother, Tim Rudd.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by; brother Tom Rudd (Dorothy), FL; John Rudd
(Jinny), MA; sister Diane Peterson, SC; sister Gloria Sherry, Ben Salem; son David Bonsted
(Joy), Sewell NJ; son Michael Bonsted (Kiersten), Tamaqua; son Peter Bonsted (Kathy), NJ;
daughter Joy Bonsted, NJ; daughter Megan Franza (Vincent), NJ; 10 grandchildren; 2 great
grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Kimberly Ann Lindner
, 59, of Patriotic Hill, Mahanoy City, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 11, 2022.

Kimberly was born while her father was serving in the United States military in Puerto Rico, on November 7, 1963, a daughter of Carlene (Parady) Lindner and the late Wayne Lindner.

She was a graduate of the North Schuylkill High School, and worked for the former Wenco Windows in Ringtown and Hollander Home Fashions in Frackville.

In addition to her mother, Carlene Lindner of Mahanoy City, she is survived by her children, Joseph Burke with Kelsey Cronauer, and Gabrielle Burke, both of Mahanoy City, along with a granddaughter, Karlee Burke. A step brother, Steven Lindner of Berwick also survives.

As per her request, private family services will be held at a later date.

Ronald A. “The Colonel” Sabitsky, Sr.
, 81, of Cressona, passed away peacefully, Thursday, November 10th, at his home in his sleep.

He was born April 30, 1941 the son of the late Anthony Edward Sabitsky and the late Wilma Mary (Bettinger) Sabitsky.

Ronnie graduated from Minersville High School in 1958. After which he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served until 1962 aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid as a fuel technician and sustained injuries resulting in a disabled veteran designation. He served in the Reserves until 1964. Ronnie was most proud of several of his artifacts displayed in the U.S.S. Intrepid museum in New York City. He would be a “teenager” again when visiting this ship. He was thrilled to have visited 16 countries on the Mediterranean. He was a heavy equipment operator and retired from Penn Dot. Ronnie was a life-long member of the Minersville Fish & Game, and an active member of the St. Clair Fish & Game. He was a member of the Cressona American Legion. He was life-long woodsman who enjoyed hunting from a young age. He enjoyed time at the gun clubs with cherished friends. He enjoyed traveling, especially Ocean City, MD. His dearest enjoyment was with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was thankful that they were healthy and for their lives. Ronnie is survived by his 30 year companion and love Darlene. He is also survived by his children, Jamie, husband of Mary Sabitsky, Ronald Sabitsky Jr., Michelle, wife of Mark Hoover, Jesse, husband of Ashley Sabitsky, and Jared, husband of Chrissy Sabitsky. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Darlene’s children and grandchildren. A visitation will be held Thursday November 17 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville. A Religious Service will be held at 7:30 PM. As well as from 7:00 to 9:30 am Friday morning at the funeral home.

Interment Friday at 10:30 am with full Military Honors at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
