BOYS BASKETBALL: North Schuylkill Hangs on to Defeat Pottsville for Spot in Schuylkill League Final

North Schuylkill earned their spot in the Schuylkill League Boys Basketball Championship after defeating Pottsville on Wednesday evening.

This was the 3rd meeting of these two teams this season and based off what we saw during those, this game wasn't going to disappoint.

The Crimson Tide had the home court advantage but Spartan fans packed Martz Hall to show their support.  Fans were lining up at the doors before they even opened.

It's tough for any team to beat a team 3 times in a season so Pottsville had that on their side as well.

Both teams' fast past offense and defense was obvious right at tip off and through the first half.  North Schuylkill held a 15-11 lead after the first quarter.

The Spartans ran into trouble during the 2nd quarter and Pottsville took advantage.  The Crimson Tide scored 10 unanswered points at the start of the 2nd and it wasn't until 3 minutes into the quarter that North Schuylkill hit a basket.

Pottsville held a 12-point lead at one point until North Schuylkill got it together.

As they always do, the Spartans came out after halftime and found their rhythm.  By the middle of the 3rd quarter, North Schuylkill led 34-32.

Both teams went shot for shot and at the start of the 4th quarter, the Spartans held a slim lead 40-38.

But halfway through the quarter, North Schuylkill lead 50-41 and they didn't let up.

North Schuylkill would punch their ticket to the Schuylkill League Championship on Friday winning 63-49.

This officially ends the Crimson Tide's season since they didn't make the District XI playoffs.

North Schuylkill moves on to play Blue Mountain on Friday for the championship at 7:30pm at Martz Hall.

The Girls Championship is also Friday at 6:00pm at Martz Hall where North Schuylkill will face Marian Catholic.
