Frank J. Gronski Jr., 65, of 516 3rd Ave., passed away suddenly on March 3, 2023, after an automobile accident on Rt. 61, Butler Twp. near North Schuylkill Junior/Senior High School.

He was born in Rochester, NY, on May 10, 1957, the son of the late Frank J. Gronski Sr. and Claire (Yoder) Gronski.

Frank attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Elementary School in Rochester, NY and was a 1976 graduate of Mount Carmel High School. He studied electrical technology at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in Lancaster. Frank was employed as a maintenance specialist at North Schuylkill Junior/Senior High School, Fountain Springs.

On May 4, 1985, he married the former Sharon M. Heffner in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Frank was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He was the former treasurer of the AFSCME, served his community as a firefighter and treasurer for the Wilburton Hose Co., and he was also a member of the PA State Education Association. Frank was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. He loved spending time with his family and his dogs. He enjoyed planting, gardening, working outside, and visiting the beach.

Frank is survived by his wife, Sharon Gronski of Wilburton; two daughters, Michelle Gronski, Pharm. D. and Jennifer Gronski, Pharm. D., both of Wilburton; a sister, Kathy Blase of Pottsville; beloved dogs, Bridget and Baxter “Boo Boo” and his cat, Simba; a nephew, Michael Blase and wife, Katie and their son, T.J. of Pottsville; a niece, Dr. Linda Blase, MD and husband, Justin Anchorstar of Columbia; mother-in-law Maryann Heffner of Wilburton; brother-in-law, John Heffner and wife, Paula and their three sons, Jack, Mark and Brad of West Norriton; brother-in-law, Rich Heffner and wife, Tara and their daughter, Tori of Elysburg; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Walter and Anna Gronski; maternal grandparents, Albert and Martha Yoder; aunt, Edna Rutkowski; father-in-law, John F. Heffner; brother-in-law, Timothy Blase; and cousin, Bob Gronski.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 11 a.m. with Father Francis Karwacki as celebrant in the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Burial will follow in Our Mother of Consolation Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Twp. Viewing will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 6 p.m. until the Christian Wake Service at 8 p.m. and Monday, March 13, 2023 from 9 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. in C. J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., Mount Carmel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Deborah Ann (Chesonis) Julian
, 61, of Ringtown, was called home on Tuesday morning, March 7th, 2023, surrounded by family and friends, her mother Rose Marie Chesonis, devoted husband - Ronald Julian, daughter - Maria Julian, grandson - Allen Thomas Schoffler, and granddaughter - Emmalyn Snyder.

She was born on January 13th, 1962, in Bristol, Pa. Deborah was a 1979 graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School, then went on to earn her degree in Special Education from Bloomsburg University in 1984. She touched the lives of many students while working with children from Kindergarten to Second Grade at the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit #29 in Marlin, Pa. Outside of work, she loved traveling, taking vacations, and camping.

After a long and difficult struggle with Alzheimer’s, she is finally a peace with her father Thomas Chesonis and brother Brandon Chesonis.

Surviving family include her mother - Rose Marie Chesonis of Shenandoah, her husband – Ronald Julian at home, her daughter – Maria Nicole Julian at home, her granddaughter – Emmalyn Snyder of Frackville, her grandson – Allen Thomas Schoffler of Pottsville, siblings- Bernadette Chesonis of Shenandoah, Glenn Chesonis with Sandra Robald of Bolivia, NC, Kimberly Urban with husband Gary of Frackville, Adriene Kessler with husband Thomas of Frackville, Derrick Chesonis with wife Leilani, Marisa Chesonis of Williamsport, Amber DeAngelo with husband John – Ringtown, and Kerry Snyder with husband Joseph of Aristes. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Tuesday, March 14th at 11am in the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Mount Carmel.

Anna L. Klahr
, 90 of Schuylkill Haven, died peacefully Tuesday night surrounded by her family.

She was born August 31, 1932 in Schuylkill Haven, a daughter of the late Dominick A. and Ruth Eiler LaScala.

She was a 1950 graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School.

Prior to retiring she worked as a secretary at Schuylkill Haven Elementary School.

Anna was a member of the Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven, where she was a member of the choir and taught Sunday School. She was also a girl scout leader at one time.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra J. Seitzinger; 2 brothers, Tony and Nick LaScala.

Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Richard G. Klahr; a daughter, Karen Paynok and her husband Christopher, Lancaster; 5 grandchildren, Tanya, Krystal, Cali, Philip and Anna; 7 great-grandchildren, Danika, Lucas, Max, Natalie, Benjamin, Colton, Vada; 2 sisters, Joan Sterner and Ruth Tucci, both of Schuylkill Haven; many nieces and nephews.

Services celebrating the life of Anna will be held Monday at 11AM from Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven, with Rev. Larry Laine officiating. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9AM until the time of services Monday at the church. The family would prefer remembrances in the form of contributions in memory of Anna be made to Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 252 Dock St., Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972. Interment will follow services at Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

Arrangements are under the care of James E. Humphrey Funeral Home, Pottsville.
