According to Pottsville Police, on March 7, 2023, around 3:00pm, Pottsville police investigated a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of 19th Street and West Market Streets.
The investigation revealed that a 2016 Hyundai Elantra, driven by a 16-year-old juvenile from Pottsville, was stopped in the Westbound Lane waiting for oncoming traffic in order to turn left onto 19th Street.
At that time, the teen was struck from behind by a Jeep Renegade being driven by Ashley Fehl, 20, of Pottsville.
Fehl reported that she was distracted and attempting to pick something up off the floor at the time of the crash. The collision caused disabling damage to both vehicles which were towed from the scene.
The two juveniles sought treatment for minor injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Fehl will be cited for careless driving.
