Just before 5:30pm, Saturday, May 27, 2023, emergency personnel were called to 400 Back Road in Barnesville, Ryan Township, at the Locust Valley Fish and Game Club for a special assignment.
The call came in for an ATV accident that involved a victim in a pond that was under the water for an extended period of time.
Schuylkill County Deputy Coroner Andrew Szczyglak was called to the scene and pronounced Arthur Heckman, 72, of Barnesville, dead at the scene at 6:02pm.
Szczyglak told Skook News that Heckman lived nearby and frequently fished at the pond. Early indications showed Heckman was driving his ATV along the edge of the pond and got too close and slid into the water.
An autopsy is scheduled for this week.
