Athletes Compete in Schuylkill United Way High School Football Challenge

Next season's boys of fall competed in the 6th annual Schuylkill United Way High School Football Challenge on Tuesday evening.

Players from 14 high school teams from the Schuylkill County area traveled to Spartan Stadium at North Schuylkill to test their speed, agility, and strength against the best our area has to offer.

The event is also fundraising for the Nurse's Pantry, which provides supplies to our local area school nurses.  This year's even raised $28,800.

The competition was broken up 7 competitions that included the tire flip, shuttle relay, passing accuracy, sled push, farmers carry, bench press, and broad jump.

At each event, the team would have 5 minutes to score as high as they could, that score was then calculated into an overall total score for the event.  Each event was also ranked.

At the end of the night, when all the scores were totaled, North Schuylkill came out on top as the 2023 winner.  This was the team's 3rd time winning the event in the last 4 years.

The Spartans narrowly beat last year's winner, Blue Mountain, by only 2 points.  The Eagles also impressively broke 3 event records.   In 3rd place overall was the Nativity Green Wave.
