New Basketball Rims Donated by Tournament Organizers in Frackville Ahead of 5th Annual Event



FRACKVILLE - In anticipation of the much-anticipated fifth edition of the Greg Stanalonis Sr. Memorial Tournament, organizers have generously contributed brand-new basketball rims to enhance the playing experience on the court.
Scheduled for this upcoming Saturday, the Greg Stanalonis Sr. Memorial Tournament is set to unfold at the Good Will Courts situated within Frackville's Arch Street Park. Spearheaded by Gregory R. Stanalonis Jr., the event serves as both a thrilling sports spectacle and a philanthropic endeavor, aiming to raise funds for an educational scholarship established in honor of his late father.

The Greg Stanalonis Sr. Memorial Scholarship, named after the tournament organizer's father, bestows financial support upon two outstanding high school seniors each year. These recipients, who must have actively participated in a minimum of two years of high school basketball within Schuylkill County or the Schuylkill League.

Reflecting on the significance of the gesture, Stanalonis Jr. expressed his genuine commitment to his community. "I hold a deep appreciation for my roots and the town that has shaped me," he commented during a presentation to the Borough Council while unveiling the newly installed rims.

Anticipation for the tournament has been steadily mounting, as Saturday's event is set to host a total of 10 teams, each comprised of four skilled players. 

These teams collectively represent an array of counties, including Schuylkill, Berks, Dauphin, Luzerne, Lackawanna, Columbia, Mountour, Carbon, Northumberland, and Lehigh Counties. The tournament promises to be a captivating showcase of basketball prowess and camaraderie, uniting players from diverse regions in the spirit of healthy competition.
