Maureen T. Gerhard, 84, of Orwigsburg, passed away Wednesday, August 2nd, at home surrounded by family.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, on August 18, 1938, she was the only daughter of the late Joseph S. & Mary F. (Hennely) Reilly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James C. Gerhard, and her brother, Michael Abernethy.

Maureen is survived by her two sisters: Pat Suppa and Eileen Connely.

Maureen is also survived by three children: Lizbeth Gerhard, of Orwigsburg; Kristin, wife of Scott Greenawalt, of Orwigsburg; and John C. Gerhard, of Craftsbury, VT. She was a devoted grandmother to five beloved grandchildren: Meghan, Sean, Daniel, William, & Reilly, who affectionately called her "Nan."

Maureen was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.

Maureen was employed by Rest Haven Nursing Home as a registered nurse for 25 years.

Maureen was an avid gardener, who also enjoyed cooking, traveling, reading, and her beloved dog, Stella.

She was a graduate of Brentwood Academy High School, Brooklyn, NY, and Saint Clare's Nursing School, Manhattan, NY.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 9th at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven. A visitation will be held in the chapel from 9:15-10:15 AM.

Interment will be private at the family's convenience.

Anna Premich
, 96, formerly of Saint Clair, currently of Huntington Beach, California, passed away on August 1, 2023.

Born September 24, 1926 in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Shargo Chekan.

She attended Pottsville Area schools and worked in the local textile industry. Anna went on to marry her husband, Charles Premich, a former Saint Clair Funeral Director, who she assisted in the business.

Anna was a loving mother, baba and great grandmother. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family who raved about her ethnic halupkie.

She was a member of St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, Saint Clair and its Sisterhood organization.

In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 1981 and brothers Andrew, George and Michael, sisters Veronica, Mary, Margaret, Elizabeth and Maria.

Anna is survived by her daughter, Susan, wife of Jerry Flannery, grandson Josh Perreault and great granddaughter Venice, all residents of Huntington Beach, California.

Survivors also include, brother-in-law, Andrew and his wife Jean Premich of Orwigsburg, sister-in law Dorothy Chekan of Port Carbon along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Monday August 7, 2023 at 10:00AM at St Michael Orthodox Church 109 North Nichols Street St. Clair PA 17970.

The Rev. Jeff Zias will be officiating.

Calling hours will be Sunday August 6, 2023 from 6:00PM- 8:00 PM with Parastas at 7:30 PM and Monday 8:30 AM – 9:15 AM at the Bruce T. Hart Funeral Home, 110 North Second Street, St. Clair PA 17970.

The family would prefer that memorial donations be made in Anna’s name to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Chicago, IL 60601 or St. Michael’s building Fund, 106 N. Morris Street, St. Clair, PA 17970.
