Carole Waber
, a pillar of unwavering dedication, radiant spirit, and profound compassion, peacefully passed away at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Bethlehem, PA on September 8th, 2023.

Born on August 3, 1946, in Pottsville, PA and raised in Mary-D, PA, Carole etched an unforgettable influence on countless lives through her unwavering commitment to promoting intercultural exchange, her continuous love for her community and family, and her devotion to U.S military service members and humane causes.

Graduating proudly from the Tamaqua Area Class of 1964, she honed her professional skills at Ford Business School in Pottsville, PA, which laid the groundwork for an admirable career as a secretary, spanning from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. under J. Edgar Hoover, Abington Hospital in Willow Grove, to Consolidated Cigars in McAdoo, PA. Carole's time in Washington, D.C. was eye-opening, expanding her worldview and kindling a passion for international understanding. She brought this spirit back to her roots in Pennsylvania, through the adoption of two wonderful children from Korea, welcoming exchange students from South America, Mexico, Japan, and Europe, and opening her home to children from Northern and Southern Ireland amidst a season of political differences.

Carole's joy multiplied when she gave birth to a natural child at the age of 39. Her dedication as a mother paralleled her loyalty as a wife, turning her home into a sanctuary saturated with love. A devout Catholic, Carole’s deep faith was the compass that guided her actions and decisions throughout her life.

She tenderly impacted those who surrounded her – be it her family, wider community, or the international community she weaved throughout her journey. Carole's legacy includes her three children, five cherished grandchildren, one great-grandson, sister, several distant family members, numerous past students who found a second home with her, and numerous friends. Every heart she touched mourns her loss, especially those who had the privilege of witnessing her selflessness, unparalleled kindness, and unwavering commitment in action.
