Deaths in New Philadelphia Officially Ruled Homicide

After autopsies were done, the death of two teens in Schuylkill County have been ruled homicide.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Frackville, the bodies of two individuals were found in a wooded area along Ferndale Road in New Philadelphia approximately 1 mile from Route 209 on Tuesday, October 10th, 2023.  The bodies were found around 3:25am.  Both would later be pronounced by the Schuylkill County Coroner's Office at 6:00am.

State Police have identified one of the victim's as 18-year-old Hunter Mock, of New Philadelphia.  The other is only being identified by State Police as a 16-year-old from New Philadelphia.

The Pottsville Area School District had already identified the 16-year-old victim as Angel Caraballo.

Both victims had been reported missing on Sunday and Monday.

According to the update provided by State Police on Thursday, an autopsy was performed Thursday morning by Dr. Ross at the Dauphin County Forensic Facility.

Dr. Ross ruled the manner of death for both victims as homicide.

State Police did not release any other official information but did say the investigation is still ongoing.
