Shenandoah Unites for Public Health & Safety Night Out

The Shenandoah community came together for an exciting and informative event: the Shenandoah Public Health & Safety Night Out, which took place on Tuesday evening.
The event was held at the Shenandoah Ambulance Building, located on East Washington Street in Shenandoah, and it provided an evening filled with fun, education, and community bonding.

The event was a collaborative effort between the Shenandoah Community Ambulance Association, the Shenandoah Fire Department, and the Shenandoah Police Department, who teamed up with Schuylkill County's VISION "Safe Routes to Parks" Program. The goal was to promote public health and safety awareness within the community, offering an opportunity for attendees to learn, engage, and contribute to creating a safer, healthier environment for everyone.

Emergency vehicles were on display, including ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars. People had the chance to get up close and learn about first responders and their vehicles and how they keep the community safe.  Lehigh Valley Health Network's Medevac helicopter also made an appearance.

In collaboration with the "Safe Routes to Parks" Program, Schuylkill Vision set up a bike safety course.  Kids learned about following street signs and to ride safely by wearing their helmets.

The event also featured a resource fair, where various public health agencies were present to offer information and resources to help attendees and their families stay healthy and safe.

Local organizations like the American Red Cross, Schuylkill County Communications, Schuylkill Elder Abuse Prevention Alliance, Sexual Assault Resource and Counseling Center, and DCNR along with Smokey the Bear, were all in attendance to inform the community.

Designed for the whole family, the night out provided an opportunity to socialize with neighbors, meet local public safety officials.
