Cecilia M. Scherer
, age 77, of Mahanoy City, died Wednesday surrounded by her family at Lehigh Valley Schuylkill East Norwegian Street in Pottsville. 

Born in Coaldale she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Kelly) Sweeney. She was a 1964 graduate of Marian High School and had been employed in the local garment industry and last worked for the Mahanoy City Public Library. She was a member of the Citizens Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a social member of Mahanoy City American Legion Post 74. 

 She was preceded in death by her husband Paul C. "Ozzie" Scherer in 2004 and a brother Joseph Daniel Sweeney in 1993. Survivors include 3 daughters Kathy Maurer and her husband Tim of Nesquehoning, Marie Shober and her husband Tom of Barnesville and Beth Scheeler and her husband Tim of Mahanoy City, grandchildren Corey Scheeler and his wife Nikki, Libby Shober, Katey McMullin and her husband Brett, Kelly Shober and her fiancĂ©' Corbin White and two great grandchildren Kellen and Kyla Scheeler.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Monday morning at 11 AM from the David D. Jarrett Funeral Home of Mahanoy City. The Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher will officiate. 

 Interment will follow in St. Canicus Cemetery in Mahanoy Township. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday morning beginning at 9 AM until time of services. 

Contributions in her name to the Mahanoy City Public Library would be appreciated by the family and will be accepted at the visitation.

David D. Jarrett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gloria (Etzoola) Rinker
, 99, of McAdoo, passed away Tuesday morning at Fritzingertown Senior Living Community, Drums.

Gloria was born January 24th,1924 and was the daughter of the late August and Rose (Etzoola) Yanoshik. Gloria was a long-time member of Salem Lutheran church in Audenried and later a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Hazleton.

She was a 1942 graduate of McAdoo HS and in 1945 married the late Robert Rinker (d.2002) with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. She was employed as a seamstress at Sportscraft in McAdoo and afterwards at St. Luke Manor, Hazleton.

Gloria enjoyed spending her time on arts and crafts and sewing and loved tending to her garden. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be sadly missed.

Preceding her in death, were her husband Robert Rinker; brother Jake Yanoshik; and granddaughter Nicole Mushock.

Surviving are her sons Robert Rinker and wife Barbara (Sacramento, Ca), David Rinker and wife Nancy, of McAdoo; daughter Judy Manganelli and husband Mike, of Lattimer; son James Rinker and wife Terri, of Reading; grandchildren, Ben (Rachel), Stacie (Jeffrey), Sara (Eric), Suzanne, Michael (Amanda), Joshua, Melissa, Michael (Erin), and Angela; great-grandchildren, Mia, Michael, Oliva, Jillian, Bria, Shawna, Ella, Eli, Paley, and Jacob; great-great-grandchildren Quinn and Adonis; and like a daughter, her best friend and neighbor, Maryann Graino, of McAdoo.

Private services will be held. Interment will be in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown.

The Damiano Funeral Home Inc., McAdoo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
