WEATHER ALERT: Freeze Warning Issued for Schuylkill County

  


The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning for late Wednesday into Thursday for Schuylkill County.
FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM EDT THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 25 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central Pennsylvania including the counties of:
  • Adams 
  • Clinton 
  • Columbia 
  • Cumberland 
  • Dauphin 
  • Franklin 
  • Fulton 
  • Huntingdon 
  • Juniata 
  • Lancaster 
  • Lebanon 
  • Lycoming 
  • Mifflin 
  • Montour 
  • Northumberland 
  • Perry 
  • Schuylkill 
  • Snyder 
  • Union 
  • York

* WHEN...From 11 PM this evening to 10 AM EDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Widespread sub-freezing temperatures will likely bring and end to the growing season.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take protective measures now as freezing temperatures could damage or kill tender plants and vegetation. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above- ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
