Schuylkill County Crash Log - January 18th, 2024

Collection of recent crash reports released by Schuylkill County law enforcement.

No Injuries Reported in Frackville Crash


FRACKVILLE - On Monday January 15, 2024,5:00pm, Frackville Police were dispatched to the intersection of S. Lehigh Ave. and Oak St. for a motor vehicle accident. 

Investigation revealed that Sara Dimmick, 20 of Frackville, was traveling north S. Lehigh Ave. in a Ford Focus and was attempting to turn left and travel west on W. Oak St. Dimmick’s vehicle was struck by a Subaru Outback operated by Amber Garcia, 23 of Shenandoah. 

Garcia was traveling south on S. Lehigh Ave. through the intersection with Oak St. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene. 

There were no injuries reported. The investigation is continuing.

Frackville Fire Department assisted at the scene and Steve’s Towing and Hoffman’s Towing assisted with removing the vehicles.

One Transported After Gilberton Crash

GILBERTON - On Wednesday January 17, 2024, Frackville Police were dispatched to the intersection of Main St. and A St. in Gilberton for a motor vehicle accident. 

Investigation revealed that Jada Habowski, 18 of Ashland, exited State Route 924 at the Gilberton off-ramp and was traveling south on A St. in a Jeep Liberty. Habowski stopped at the intersection with Main St. and was waiting for traffic to clear when she was struck by a Mazda CX-30, operated by Janet Deffley, 73 of Barnesville. 

Deffley was traveling west on Main St. and attempting to turn right and travel north on State Route 924, toward Shenandoah.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene by Hoffman’s Towing. 

Frackville EMS was requested for an evaluation of Deffley, who was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Pottsville. 

Gilberton Fire Department and a Firefighter from Altamont Fire Department assisted with traffic control.

No Injuries Reported in Pine Grove Township Crash

PINE GROVE TOWNSHIP - This crash occurred on Tuesday, January 16th, 2024 on Geary Wolfe Road just north of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail.

State Police say Deurys Jaquez Hernandez, 33, of Delaware was driving a Kenworth T2 Series and Jaden Mentzer, 18, of Pine Grove, driving a Chevrolet Silverado collided.

No injuries were reported and both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.  Both drivers were cited for driving too fast for the weather conditions.

One Injured in Crash in Palo Alto

PALO ALTO - This crash occurred on January 6th, 2024 around 1:20pm on East Savory Street at the intersection with Fox Street.

Troopers say Stephen Lescowitch, 38, of Port Carbon was driving east in a Ford F-150 on East Savory Street and attempted to turn left onto Fox Street, while Richard Dry, 57, of Pottsville was driving south on Fox Street and attempting to turn left onto East Savory Street.

Lescowitch reported stopped at the stop sign but failed to yield to Dry when the vehicles collided.

A passenger in Dry's vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Dry was cited for the crash.

No Injuries Reported in West Brunswick Township Crash

WEST BRUNSWICK TOWNSHIP - This crash occurred on Sunday, January 14th, 2024 around 9:20pm on Red Dale Road.

Troopers say a 17-year-old driver from Schuylkill Haven was driving east on Red Dale Road in a Ford Focus and hit a patch of black ice and lost control of his vehicle.  The vehicle traveld off the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole along the shoulder.  The crash sheared the pole and the vehicle continued until his struck an embankment.

The driver was not injured but was cited for the crash.
