Edward J. Murray, age 93, of Kaska, PA passed away Saturday, December 30th, 2023 at his home.

Born in Valley Furnace, PA on February 2, 1930, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Price) Murray.

Ed was a graduate of Blythe Township High School, Class of 1948 and then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 till 1955. He worked in maintenance at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Schuylkill Haven.
He was a member of Cumbola Methodist Church and the New Philadelphia AMVETS, where he was the chaplain. Ed was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He was the last member of his immediate family, being preceded in death by his parents, a son: Henry Lisoski, brothers: Morrell, John, Earl, Thomas, and William, and sisters: Annie, Sarah, Cecelia, Rosalie and Edna.

Ed is survived by his wife of 59 years Theresa M. (Fedako) Murray, Kaska; son: Edward and his wife Bobbi Murray, Pottsville; three daughters: Donna and her husband Craig Clauser, Wellsboro, PA; Lynn and her husband Dave Stinnett, Palo Alto; and Lisa Murray, Deer Lake; grandchildren; great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Interment with Military Honors will be held at a later date at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
The Robert A Evans Jr Funeral Home in Port Carbon is in charge of arrangements.

Glenn A. Adams, Sr.
, 70, of W. Center St., Donaldson, passed away on Sunday, December 31, 2023 at home.

Born on October 12, 1953 in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Ernest G. and Beulah Neidlinger Adams.

He was a member of the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, Pine Grove.

Glenn worked for Quaker Alloy, Bethlehem Steel, and Walmart, where he was the tire, lube express manager.

Preceding him in death was a brother Stanley W. Adams, on May 8, 2023.

Surviving are his wife. with whom he would have been married 50 years in March, Marcella Kennedy Adams; two sons, Glenn Jr. and wife Teresa Adams of Newville, Michael Adams of Donaldson; a daughter, Jerrie Adams and fiance' Derrick Lash of Lavelle; four grandchildren, Michael J. Adams, Taylor Adams, Mason Adams, and Madison Lash; a step grandchild, Joseph Kasmari; four sisters, Betty Helton and Eva McFeaters, both of Annville, Joyce Blain of Pine Grove, and Thelma Fritz of Jonestown; nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing on Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. until Noon at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove. Interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Schuylkill Church of the Brethren, c/o Lois Lehman, 26 Pine Hill Rd., Pine Grove, Pa. 17963 in his memory.

Michael (Mike) Stinsky
, 74, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 31, 2023, with his wife at his side.

He was born in Shenandoah on September 1, 1949, and was the son of the late Albert and Margaret Stinsky.

He attended Mahanoy Area High School and served four years in the United States Army as a Private First Class during the Vietnam War.

He retired from Insteel Wire Products in 2015.

He enjoyed spending time helping others through addiction and recovery and also spending time with family, friends, and his two dogs, Harley and Asia.

He was a member of the AP Damato Medal of Honor Legion Post 792, Shenandoah, PA.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Susan, and his second wife, Theresa. Also, brothers, Stephen, Joseph, and Albert and sisters Joan Yahchulis and Margie Chalkan. He was also preceded in death by grandchildren, Andrew Kufrovich and Emily Cooney.

He is survived by his current wife, Pamela Martinelli; a daughter, Susan Dower of Shenandoah; a sister, Sylvia Burke of Mahanoy City; and, a brother, Thomas and his wife Gayle, of Kulpmont. He is also survived by 10 step-children, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services with military honors will be held at Oravitz Home for Funerals, Inc., 40 North Jardin Street, Shenandoah, PA on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 11 am. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 to 11am.

Edward “Hook” Humes Jr.
of Girardville passed away Sunday morning December 31st at Serenity Gardens in Kulpmont.

“Pop lived a full life, a little over 97 years. He lived his life in service of others, from the coal mines of Schuylkill County to the Pacific theater of World War II in the Navy. He served his community as an educator as well. Most of all he served his family as a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather”.

Born in Mahanoy Plane on November 14, 1926 he was the son of the late Doris (McCaffrey) and Edward Humes Sr.

He was member of the Girardville United Methodist Church for many years.

Hook graduated from Girardville High School in 1943. He served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean War.

He was the husband of the late Ruth (Green) Humes who passed in 2010.

He was a machine shop teacher at the former Ashland High School and later Schuylkill Technology Center prior to his retirement.

Hook was a member of American Legion Post 309-Girardville, Good Fellowship Club-Ashland and F&AM Lodge 294-Ashland. He was recently presented with a 75-year Masonic pin.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and supporting his grandchildren in their sporting events.

“We will miss you, Pop. But we will cherish your life and the memories you've left with us. I am at peace because I know that you were ready. I am at peace because I know you are with Jesus, with Grandma, and that you finally have your sight back. I hope you get to do some fishing and play a little golf in heaven too.”

Well done, good and faithful servant. We love you, Pop. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing."

In addition to his spouse, he is preceded in death by a sister Alice Umlauf and brother William Humes.

Hook is survived by; brother Harry Humes (Nancy), Kutztown; daughter Holly Wetzel (Richard), Ashland; daughter Wendy Wallace (John), Ashland; daughter Pam Mattu (Lou), Orwigsburg; 11 grandchildren Susan Burns, Lizzy Grow, Richard Wetzel, Amy Doolan / Sarah Herb, Zach Ellwood, Benjamin Ellwood, Jed Ellwood, Stephanie Ellwood / Annee Minor, Maggie Brodsky; 17 great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.

A viewing for family and friends will be held Friday January 5th from 9:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Services will begin at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Rose Marquardt officiating. Burial with military honors will be Christ Church Cemetery-Fountain Springs.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Hook’s memory to Girardville United Methodist Church-Memorial Fund, 314 Germanville Rd, Ashland PA 17921.

Richard Robert “Bobby” Bainbridge
, of Buck Run, Foster Township, passed away on Sunday at home in the presence of his family.

Born on November 27, 1944, he was a son of the late LeRoy and Catherine (nee Heiser) Bainbridge. He was a 1962 graduate of Cass Township High School and worked as a machinist for Dorr-Oliver, Inc., Hazleton.

He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Conflict; and was a member of the Minersville American Legion.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Bainbridge and Paul E. Rea; two brothers, James Bainbridge and Raymond Bainbridge; a sister, Sharon Beury.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 29 years, the former Carol M. Bressler; his four remaining children, Lisa, Michelle, Duane Bainbridge and Shawn Bainbridge; sixteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by five brothers, LeRoy Bainbridge (spouse, Marie), Williamstown, David Bainbridge (spouse, Colleen), Seltzer, Donald Bainbridge (spouse, Sharon), Tower City, Gary Bainbridge, Pottsville, and Jackie Bainbridge (spouse, Barbara), Forestville, Cass Township; nieces and nephews.

The family will accept visitors at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Saturday from 8:00 A.M. until services at 10:00 A.M. Interment with military honors will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.

Horace W. “Moe” Baumer, having lived a long life of 110 years, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the Gardens at York Terrace.

Born on December 17, 1913, he was the son of the late Clifford and Ruth Williams Baumer. Horace graduated from Girard College. He first worked at a truck driver, hauling coal to Philadelphia. He later served as a waiter for nine years at the former Felsburg’s Luncheonette, Minersville. During World War Two, he worked as a foreman for the Army Vehicle Restoration program at ALCOA, Cressona. He returned to the coal industry, working for the former Capparel Stripping & Construction Company, the Oak Hill Colliery as a repairman. He retired as a millwright from Bethlehem Steel at Grace Mine in Morgantown.

He was a member of the former English Lutheran Church, Minersville. He was also a member the Girard College Alumni Association and a life member of the Mountaineer Hose Company, Minersville. Horace was known for his love of gardening, fishing, fire fighting, parades, and church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, the former Genevieve V. Petchkofski; four children, all at birth, Joseph, David, Harry and Genevieve; a niece, Ruth Yanulevich and her spouse, Mike Yanulevich.

Moe is survived by the Rachelle and Lonnie Smith family, the Mike and Tammy Yanulevich family, and the Greg and Lori Vernosky family. Many great friends that Moe also considered as family include the Marty and Jennifer Stoyer family, the Joan Laudeman family, and the Dave Anspach family.

Those who knew Moe are invited to pay their respects at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury Street, Minersville, on Thursday, from 10:00 A.M. until services at Noon. Interment will follow in Mount Peace Cemetery, Branch Township. John F. "Jack" Wagner
, 87, of Mount Joy, passed away peacefully Sunday night, December 31, 2023 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.

Born in Pottsville, January 27, 1936, a son the late Mary A. Carl Ritzman. Jack attended Tremont High School.

Jack was a life long truck driver. He retired from ABF Trucking Company.

He was a member of Swartara Lodge #267 F&AM, Tremont. While living in Tremont, Jack was very active with the Tremont Area Ambulance Association.

In addition to his mother, Jack was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Wagner, a sister Dawn Kimmel, two brother, Terry Ritzman and Robert Wagner.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Carole A. Ellinger Wagner; one daughter, Wanda Lehman (Michael), Florida; a son, John Wagner (Cynthia), Lititiz; three brothers, Arthur Ritzman (Maria), Lebanon, Carl Ritzman, Blandon, and Claude Ritzman (Carol), Pine Grove; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren.

Bruce L. Lord Sr.
, 80, passed away Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023, at his home in Llewellyn. Born in Minersville on June 20, 1943, he was the son of the late William J. and Anna C. (Reber) Lord.

A lifelong resident of Schuylkill County, Bruce graduated from Minersville Area High School in 1961 and shortly thereafter, began his career at the First National Bank of Minersville (FNBM) as a teller and bookkeeper. Through dedicated service and certifications from the American Institute of Banking (Anthracite Chapter), he advanced to hold various positions, including upper management roles, within the bank. Additionally, in 2001, Bruce was elected to serve on the FNBM Board of Directors.

He also served as secretary, chief executive officer and board member of the Home Building and Loan Association of Minersville, which provided many mortgage loans to the people of Schuylkill County.

To honor his accomplished 53-year banking career, the Pennsylvania Bankers Association awarded Bruce for his distinguished service by inducting him into their 50-year Club Membership.

Bruce was an active member of the English Evangelical Lutheran Church (Lewis St., Minersville), where he participated in the choir and served on church council and as chairman of the property and finance committees.

He was also a member of the following organizations: Schuylkill Bankers Association, Independent Order of Odd Fellows Pine Grove Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of the Cressona Lodge #222, Royal Arch Mason of Griscom Royal Arch Chapter #219, Beckville Fish and Game Protective Association, Endowment Patriot Life Member of the National Rifle Association, and a life member the Good Intent Hose Company #1 (Llewellyn).

Bruce competitively raced homing pigeons for 40 years with his eldest brother, Donald, as members of the Minersville Homing Club and the Anthracite Concourse Association. He was an avid small-game hunter devoted to breeding and training beagles for more than 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Dr. Michael J. Przywara, and two brothers, Donald W. Lord and Kenneth J. Lord.

Above all, Bruce valued and cherished his roles of husband, father, and grandfather. His family was the center of his life, and his love and jovial presence was the cornerstone of theirs.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Marianne (Polinsky) Lord; his children, Lee Ann Cognetti and her husband Leo J. of Coatesville, Lynanne L. Przywara of Pottsville, Bruce L. Lord Jr. and his wife Neliana of Boiling Springs, and Lynda L. Borzak of Bryn Mawr; and his grandchildren, Annelise M. Przywara, Leo S. Cognetti, Marielle R. Przywara, Gianna L. Cognetti, Evan E. Lord, Maria C. Cognetti, and Sofia M. Lord.

Funeral services will be private, and a burial will follow at Mount Peace Cemetery, Minersville.
