Pottsville Woman Faces Charges of Aggravated Assault and Resisting Arrest


A Pottsville woman is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison after a domestic violence incident early Monday.

According to Pottsville Police, on Monday, January 1st, 2024, just before 1:00am, City police were dispatched to a residence in the 1200 block of Howard Ave., for the report of a domestic disturbance. 

On location, police learned that there had been and altercation between 38-year-old Sarah Marler, of Pottsville and her mother. Marler’s son, attempted to separate them and during which, he was bit by Marler, causing bodily injury.

Police subsequently took Marler into custody for simple assault – pursuant to domestic violence. At which time, Marler began to resist police by dropping on the floor, as she began to flail and kick. 

Police attempted to place Marler in the back of a patrol vehicle, as Marler continued to resist. Marler continued to flail and kick, which resulted in her kicking a uniformed police officer, in the face, causing bodily injury.

Marler was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Andrew Serina on charges of Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, and Resisting Arrest. 

Marler was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison unable to post $10,000 straight cash bail.
