Pottsville Police Investigate Two-Vehicle Collision Involving School District Van


Pottsville Police are investigating a crash that occurred Wednesday in the city involving a school district van.

According to Pottsville Police, on Wednesday, February 28th, 2024 around 2:15pm, City Police responded to the intersection of W. Laurel Blvd and N. 9th Street for a report of a two-car accident. 

Involved in the crash were a Pottsville School District passenger van being operated by 30-year-old Amber Eaddy of Pottsville, and containing three juvenile students and one student aid, 68-year-old Charlene Corby of St. Clair and a Jeep Compass operated by 31-year-old Talisa Latham-Barnes of Pottsville, with her 6-year-old son, a rear seat passenger.

Police say Latham-Barnes was traveling west on of Laurel Blvd. while the school van was stopped on Laurel Blvd facing west in the intersection with the hazard lights activated.

Latham-Barnes collided into the left rear of the school van causing disabling damage to both vehicle.

The three students and student aid were transported to the hospital by a second uninvolved school van for possible injury and treatment. 

Both drivers and Latham-Barnes's son, were transported by ambulance to the Lehigh Valley hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Pottsville Police say they are continuing to investigate the crash.

CORRECTION:  In the original posting, we listed Corby as the driver of the other vehicle.  That was incorrect.  Latham-Barnes was the driver of the other vehicle.  Story has been corrected.
