On Saturday, March 16, 2024, the Shenandoah Valley High School Auditorium was filled with the sound of over 100 junior high students/musicians from various schools across Schuylkill County.
The event was part of the Junior Schuylkill County Band Association's Jr. Schuylkill County Band Festival.
Under the baton of guest conductor Mr. Michael F. Ryan, a well-respected figure in the realm of music education, the young performers showcased their skills and dedication to music.
Mr. Michael Ryan is a 1976 graduate of Pottsville Area High School and a 1980 graduate of the Pennsylvania State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education. He has also done post-graduate work at West Chester University and Villanova University.
Ryan has taught music locally at Minersville Area and Pottsville and most recently was inducted into the 2024 Schuylkill County Band Hall of Fame.
