North Schuylkill softball powered its way into the District XI Class 4A Semifinal with a commanding 10-2 win over Saucon Valley on Friday afternoon.
The Spartans fell behind briefly as Saucon Valley plated two runs in the top of the first inning, but North Schuylkill quickly erased the deficit and never looked back. They answered with a run in the bottom of the first and added on in each of the next four innings, building a 10-2 lead by the end of the fifth.
The offensive charge was a complete team effort, highlighted by RBIs from Monica Selgrade (2), Lindsey Brouse (2), Jordanna Frie (2), Gianna Capone (2), and Kylie Meskunas (1). Brouse also delivered a home run to cap off a big day at the plate.
North Schuylkill’s dominance was equally evident in the circle. Senior pitcher Bridget Flynn delivered a performance, striking out 14 batters while throwing just 82 pitches — 65 of them for strikes.
With the win, North Schuylkill advances to the District XI Semifinal, where they will face Blue Mountain on Saturday evening at 7:00pm at Pine Grove.
